"Stone Butch Blues" by Leslie Feinberg
Location:
Hoboken Public Library, Hoboken, NJ
Through friends, I learned that the Hoboken Public Library has a reading garden inside. You can imagine my reaction—I was flabbergasted! I decided this would be the perfect spot for a library break.
I arrived in Hoboken early in the morning. The library building resembled an elementary school, complete with small paintings on the windows created by local children. As I walked in, I requested their oldest version of Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg, but unfortunately, it was checked out. Luckily, I had my personal copy to photograph in the reading garden.
I tried taking pictures inside the library, but the librarians weren't too happy about that and informed me that the only area where photography was allowed was the reading garden. Located in the basement of the library, the reading garden is open to both children and adults during library hours.
This experience was incredible and reminded me why I wanted to create a category on my blog for library breaks. There are so many unique libraries around the world that often go unnoticed, and it’s my job to showcase them!
